New Schengen entry requirements

The European Union’s (EU) new Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out.

EES checks are being introduced in a phased way across external borders, with full operation expected from 10 April 2026.

This means that when you travel into the Schengen area for short stays, you may need to register your biometric details, such as fingerprints and a photo. You do not need to take any action before you arrive at the border, and there is no cost for EES registration.

On your first visit into a Schengen country, you may be asked to register your details at a special booth before proceeding to the immigration desk. Follow directions from your travel operator or the staff at your port of entry. You may also need to provide either your fingerprint or photo when you leave the Schengen area. Children aged 11 or younger will not have their fingerprints scanned but can be required to have their photo taken.

EES may take each passenger a few minutes extra to complete so be prepared to wait longer than usual at the border.

Until EES is fully rolled out your passport will continue to be stamped, even if you’ve already been registered for EES. Once EES is fully rolled out, it will replace the current system of manually stamping passports when visitors arrive in the Schengen area for short stays and you will input biometric details every time you enter or exit.

If you enter the Schengen area through the Port of Dover, Eurotunnel at Folkestone or Eurostar at St Pancras International and you are asked to register for EES, the information will be taken at the border before you leave the UK.

Your digital EES record is valid for 3 years. If you enter the Schengen area again during this time, you will still only need to provide a fingerprint or photo at the border, when you enter and exit.

Read more information on the EU Entry/Exit System and to understand which countries are in the Schengen area

Your passport must be issued within 10 years of your arrival date and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. Check with your travel provider that your documents meet requirements and renew if needed (Renew your passport). You can be refused entry if your travel document is invalid or your passport has been reported lost or stolen. If you’re travelling on a passport with a different nationality than the one these guidelines assume, contact your embassy/consulate for the latest entry rules.

Until EES is fully rolled out, your passport may still be stamped; once it is, stamping ends and you’ll provide biometrics at every Schengen entry and exit.

Travelling With Infants and Children

If travelling with infants or children, we would bring to your attention Section 7 (15) – (21) of the Package Terms & Conditions.

Bassinet Seat Requests

Bassinet seats are subject to airline availability and can only be confirmed to us at the point of flight ticketing, which typically occurs less than three months prior to the flight's departure.

As a result, we may not be able to confirm bassinet seating at the time of booking, nor guarantee any associated costs or supplements in advance. While we will always do our best to accommodate such requests, final allocation remains at the discretion of the airline and is outside of our control.

We recommend discussing any specific seating needs with us as early as possible so we can liaise with the airline accordingly.

Suitability

Due to the nature of attending sporting events, there may be considerable walks, queuing, extended travel time, limited space and other practicalities associated with large crowds of people. If you have concerns as to whether this is suitable for any of your Group, please contact us.

Additional Fees, Charges and Other Costs

It is not always possible to calculate additional fees, charges and other costs. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.

Certain destinations may impose a tourist tax, city tax or similar local charge. This will not be included in the price of your package, unless specifically stated in your Booking Confirmation Email. You will be responsible for checking and paying any such taxes directly to the accommodation provider or relevant local authority.

Financial Protection

We are a member of ABTA which means you have the benefit of ABTA’s assistance and Code of Conduct. We provide financial protection for your money when you buy a package holiday.

If your booking includes a flight it will be financially protected by the ATOL scheme under our membership number 3030. For more information, please see the Terms and Conditions and also the financial protection information.
